I started The No Poo Method website at the end of 2014. I was getting a lot questions about my no poo journey that I wrote about on my main blog The Crunchy Moose (1 year update and 2 year update). I honestly didn’t have much expectations for the site. I really just wanted a place to give more details for the people that were asking questions. I am happy to say that more people are interested in ditching the toxic shampoo than I ever would have imagined! In 2015, The No Poo Method site had over 400,000 page views! Thank you to everyone that has read, commented, shared, or emailed me. Here are the most viewed posts from 2015.
#10 The No Poo Method eBook
After publishing the site, I thought I had said everything there is to say about no poo and natural hair care. But I was wrong! I was getting more questions. People wanted to know more. So I delved deeper and created The No Poo Method eBook. Thank you so much to everyone that has supported this project!
#9 Styling Products
Since I have started no poo, I use very little styling products because my hair just doesn’t need them. My hair holds curl better and is not near as frizzy.
#8 Natural Hair Color
This is not an extensive list of natural hair dyes, but these are the most common ones. I’ve also heard of people using beet juice, carrot juice, tea, and hibiscus petals. If it’s a food or plant from nature and you can steep it in hot water to get color out, there’s a good chance it will color your hair! Most of the rinses made this way are very temporary and don’t last long. So go ahead, experiment!
#7 Start Here
Hello & welcome to The No Poo Method site. If you are here, then you are interested in ditching toxic shampoo and going no poo. Or you are at least curious about it. Here is everything you need to know to start the no poo method. First, let’s clear up a few things.
#6 Deep Conditioning
I do a deep conditioning mask about once a month. My personal favorite is coconut oil (see how I use it here). But I also use egg, honey, avocado, and kefir.
This is a list of the most common questions I get asked.

#3 Essential Oils For Hair
I absolutely love using essential oils for my hair. Not only do they smell great, but they are nourishing, strengthening, moisturizing, can balance hormones, prevent hair loss, and get rid of dandruff.
Hair porosity refers to how well your hair can absorb and retain moisture. How porous your hair is has a lot to do with which no poo method will work best for your hair. Figuring out your hair porosity will allow you to maximize the benefits from your conditioning products.
#1 No Poo Methods
I could interview 100 no poo-ers and there is a good chance that not a single one of them follow the same routine. Everyone has different hair types and wants different results. Here are some common no poo methods.
